Making a Xeltek DX0001 CX0001 Adapter Cover / Shell with a 3d printer.

With Xeltek no longer providing the programming adapters with a shell or cover, I searched online for a solution and stumbled upon a model that would possibly met my needs. I eagerly loaded it up in Prusa Slicer.

And so, with the last of the gray PLA on my spool, I took a leap of faith and brought the design to life through 3D printing. The excitement of seeing this creation materialize with my Prusa i3 MK3S+ 3d Printer was palpable, and I couldn’t wait to see how it would turn out.

Total Print Time One Hour and Fifteen Minutes. (1:15)

Unfortunately, the inside was too small and the opening for the ZIF socket was not the proper size. Despite these setbacks, I was determined to find a solution that would allow me to achieve my desired outcome.

Being a novice in Fusion 360, I undertook the task of modifying a CAD design. To make the adjustments for a proper fit, I made several key changes including transforming the corners, enlarging the cavity, and adjusting the size of the zif socket slot.

Once again My Prusa i3 MK3S+ 3D Printer hummed to life, as layer after layer of melted plastic began to form. The thrill of watching this creation take shape before my very eyes was electric, and I am always filled with a sense of awe and wonder. With each rotation of the print bed, my excitement grew, as the once intangible design began to take on a tangible form. And finally, after what felt like an eternity (1hr 30min), the final layer was laid down, and the 3D printing process was complete. The results of my novice efforts were quite remarkable, and I am quite pleased with the outcome. I will need to make a few more modifications to get this adapter cover to be to my liking.

Here are Some Test Prints I Did Top Silver is OEM metal cover.

Black One Is Printed In PETG I would Recomend PLA it is a Bit Stiffer. I think ASA Would also work even better as soon as I get some ASA Filament I will give it a try.

I am still working on it, and I want to learn how to incorporate threaded inserts to accommodate larger screws. Please feel free to reach out if you have any insights or suggestions.
